Alhamdulillah, Masjid-e-Ali operates entirely through the generous support of its donors. Our annual operating costs are generated from our own community as part of a self sustaining model. Each and every donation whether small or large is of immense value!

Membership

We operate a per household “membership” system through which all households that consider themselves to be part of the Shia Ithna Asheri muslim community of Luton and benefit from our services are requested to donate at least £210 per annum to cover our operating costs. Without this vital support it would be impossible for Masjid-e-Ali to conduct its activities.

£210 equates to around £17 per month but of course we welcome donations of all size. We appeal to those with higher levels of income to support us with higher regular donations to help improve the centre and our services.

Households that support us with at least £210 per annum will be referred to as members and in return will benefit from the following:

Member rights as defined by the constitution
Voting rights for major decisions
Invitations to Annual General & Special General Meetings (AGM/SGM)

Gift Aid

If you’re UK resident and pay income tax then why not allow Masjid-e-Ali to claim back the income tax that you’ve paid on money that you donate to us. It’s a great way to support us further with no additional cost to yourself.

As an example, if you’ve donated £210 to us, then we will be able to claim £52.50 (25% – the Gross rate of income tax) from HMRC. You simply need to ensure that you have paid at least £52.50 in income tax during that tax year. If you’re satisfied that you’ve paid the required level of income tax then the next step is to simply complete the Gift Aid declaration and return to our finance team.

For your Gift Aid declaration to be valid you must pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities and CASCs (Community Amateur Sports Clubs) you donate to, will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. Taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify. Masjid-e-Ali will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that you have given.
